What is VEX? VEX is the design platform that allows elementary, middle, and high school students to build, design, and drive robots in the VEX Robotics Competition (VRC) . VEX Robotics was created to reach out to students who had a passion for the STEM field. The VRC gives students an opportunity to design, build, and put their robots in action on a game field. It not only strengthens their creativity and building skills, but it also builds leadership, teamwork, and communication.
How can I join? In order to join Team 9090, you need to be registered at the Mandarin Chinese School in Arlington, and have taken the VEX or VEX IQ class for one semester. If you attend a different school, check to see if they have a robotics club as many high schools do. And if your school doesn't have one, you can always start one yourself! Click here to get started on creating your own team!
How will this benefit me? The VRC is a great program that lets students who are aspiring to work in the STEM field experience what it would be like to create and drive their own robots. It allows students to learn different engineering and programming skills to further their education in STEM. Robots will become more and more common in the future so giving students a head start is going to make engineering and technology more advanced. But its also tests students' ability to communicate and work with other people for every match is played with another team as your alliance.
Do I need any previous experience to be on T-VEX? No. Before you join one of our T-VEX teams, you will go through a semester-long class that will teach you the skills needed to be on a competition team. In fact, most of our members had little to no engineering, programming or VEX experience before joining.
